Listen Up: Prayer, by Robert Reed

A young girl in some kind of pointless super war, finds a super weapon and isn't afraid to use it.

Put like that the story sounds like it might be just a string of violent scenes, but actually it's not about the violence so much as the girl's dawning realisation that there is something wrong with the world as she knows it, and maybe there is something else she should stand for. Religion is entwined in the story, but it's the gun that has a place to pray to.

Some people might see this as creepy.
