The prompt "One degree of freedom" came from a science text I was reading. It describes a wave that can only move in one direction along a spring or string, as opposed to moving in both directions, or at right angles to it aswell. The book had to do with acoustics, but I was fascinated by the phrase and wondered if it might also, in a story at least, be used to describe the limits to freedom we put on ourselves for various reasons. For instance, in cities, we have millions of people confined together and have to find a way not to destroy each other. So, in a democracy, how much freedom do we allow ourselves?
New Prompt: "I like the night life, baby."
